The Immediate Aftermath of Birth Control

Well, this part should be fun.

As you guys read in my last post (OMG! I’m Replacing Birth Control With the Fertility Awareness Method.), I have officially quit my birth control! I am nervous AF, scared, and excited all at the same time. The biggest hurdle for me during this time will be my hormones. From what I have read, women quitting birth control will expect to have some crazy ass mood swings as the body gets rids of the extra hormones. I can’t lie, I am deathly afraid of this side effect. My hormones are already wild. And to think that my hormones could potentially get worst? He’-sus take the wheel!

But! I am grabbing the bull by the horns and taking control of this before it takes control of me! My goal is to boost cleansing of my liver to push those birth control hormones out of my system to minimize hormonal side effects.

Firstly, I will begin an intermittent fast. This is not a diet, this is a change in eating habits. Intermittent fasting is when you only eat for a block of time during the day. These blocks of time are typically in interments of twos: 4 hours, 6 hours, 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours. During the blocks of times, you are to consume all of your calories for the day. I typically consume less than 1800 calories a day. For my first week, I will begin with a 12 hour block for my intermittent fasting. Then gradually move to an 8 hour block. Ideally, this will force me to eat my dinners earlier for proper digestion and keep me from late night snacking. Also, the fasting periods allow your body to utilize stored fat for energy as well as boost the cleansing of toxins (birth control) out of your liver and blood stream.

Secondly, I will incorporate detox juices and teas into my diet. These juices and teas will further promote liver and kidney functions. Of course there are other great benefits which include: boost immune systems, improves digestion, improves skin, lower stress and anxiety, and promote weight loss. Don’t forget to eat a balanced meal full of vitamins and good fats and to hit the gym! A detoxing effect won’t happen if you drink your detox juices, workout, and then eat a burger from Mickey D’s.

I plan to partake in detox juices and teas at least 5 times a week. I will incorporate the intermittent fasting as a new eating lifestyle. Intermittently fasting for 12 hours as a daily regimen and constraining that time block to 8 hours or 6 hours whenever I feel necessary.

I will keep you all posted on my hormones and weight! Follow my blog so you don’t miss it!
